About Us

Mission Statement

At Fireclaw, we’re dedicated to crafting a fire-tending tool built to last a lifetime. With hands-on care from start to finish, every Fireclaw is made by passionate makers in Michigan who understand the need for a safe, simple, and strong tool around the fire. Our goal is to give campfire and wood stove lovers a tool that’s easy to use, durable, and keeps you safely back from the heat—built with the kind of quality that makes you want to pass it down to family and friends.

Unique Fire Tending Tool

Whether adding logs to your pit or moving them around in a hot fire, this camping tool is for you. In the past several years, many different campfire tending tools have been introduced to the market; however, they don't meet the high standards of Fireclaw.

How It All Started.

For those who love campfires like we do, know about the hazards of inhaling smoke, scorching your hands, and having the log stack move on you while it is burning.

So we asked the question, "How do we make a better and safer way to tend to your fire?"

This is how Fireclaw all started. With a passion for engineering and working with their hands, Dave and Doug tackled the everyday problem of tending open fires. Noticing when family or friends would gather around the bonfire that some always had the job of tending to it. They would use readily available items not designed for fire use. Even worse, they would use their bare hands to manipulate the logs to "get them going" again.

Taking the idea to design was the next step in this journey. Materials were discussed, assembly was determined, and standards were set. After a few design tweaks, the Fireclaw was created.

The current design came out of several tests and revisions until you see what we have today. Keeping the design simple enough to operate and strong enough to handle abuse was the challenge. We at Fireclaw know we have hit the mark with the feedback from our customers. Most of them start off by purchasing one for themselves and then returning to purchase more for friends and family.

FireClaw Today - New Owner, Same Principals

Meet the new owner of FireClaw, Carol Hartely

My name is Carol, and in April 2025, I had the honor of purchasing Fire Claw, Inc. from its founders, Dave and Doug. Many years ago, I bought my very first Fire Claw from them and instantly recognized what a brilliant, timeless tool it is. So when I learned they were ready to pass on the business, I didn’t hesitate to seize the opportunity.

Dave and Doug poured their heart, skill, and dedication into crafting the perfect fire-tending tool. Their commitment to preserving the handcrafted tradition and ensuring the Fire Claw would always be made right here in the USA was something I deeply respect. I was proud to give them my reassurance that the legacy would live on, and they placed their trust in my family and me to carry it forward.

At craft shows, it’s truly touching when customers come by just to share how much they love their Fire Claw. They even joke that since the tool lasts forever, we shouldn’t expect repeat business! While the quality means your Fire Claw is built to last, we’re fortunate to have many loyal customers—and new ones, too. After all, the Fire Claw makes a perfect gift for anyone who loves a good fire.

Why did I buy this business?

Owning a family business has been a long-held dream, offering a meaningful way to stay active and engaged beyond my career. As my son started his own family and traveled extensively for work, I wanted to create an opportunity that would allow him to work closer to home while providing additional income. Above all, my goal has been to ensure the FireClaw legacy continues to thrive for future generations.

Let’s meet the team

Carol

A bean counter by day, blessed to be married to a guy who supports my vision and puts up with my shenanigans (like buying a business) even when it scares him a little bit. Together, we raised 3 perfectly amazing children including Cory, the baby of the family.

Cory

A union laborer by day, a Welder/Fabricator for FireClaw production in his spare time. Cory is blessed with a life partner in Alyssa and their Most-Perfect babies, of all the Universe. (No, I am not biased).

What is our commitment?

Quality & Customer service will always be our top priority.
